About Shannon

Unlike most of my cohorts in graduate school, I did not grow up with a plethora of wholesome foods and a family that always cooked together. I grew up eating the standard industrialized American fare of sugared cereals, soda and Kraft Macaroni and Cheese from a box. My big joke is that I was raised on antibiotics and Dr. Pepper.

But something inside me was deeply aware of my desire to change, and by the time I made nutrition my formal study, I already had years of dietary transformation under my belt. It is my first-hand experiences as much as my studies that shape my professional perspective on food. I never ask a client to do something I haven’t tried.

I graduated with my Master’s of Science Degree in Nutrition from Baystr Univeristy, a leading accredited university for science-based natural medicine, in 2003. From there, I went on to obtain a Professional Chef’s Certificate from the Natural Gourmet Institute for Health & Culinary Arts.

For the next 7 years I explored a variety outlets for my knowledge including Nutrition Education, Nutritional Consultations, and working as a Private Chef. The problem was, I had reached a plateau in my own health, and a low one at that. Despite every diet, supplement, test and practice I tried, I was getting more and more tired. I never reached a stage of disease that could be clinically diagnosed, in fact I even had one doctor say to me, “There’s nothing wrong with you, you just need to go out and get a job,” but there was something wrong with me. I was completely, utterly, cellularly exhausted.

Enter Nutritional Balancing. After so many years of trying what I knew and failing to heal, I was ready for something completely different. The system of Nutritional Balancing was recommended to me by a friend, and I launched myself into the recommendations enthusiastically (or as enthusiastically as I could given that I was exhausted).

The changes I experienced were not immediate or dramatic, at first, but within a few weeks my energy had increased quantifiably, as measured by the amount of time I was spending out of bed. Over the following months I continued to make steady progress, transforming my body on a cellular level.

At nearly a year on the program, my friends came to me demanding to know what I had done. When I told them, they demanded that I work with them and help them change as I had, and that is how I got back into Nutritional Consulting.
